That team of parents has worked tirelessly for nearly a year advocating for change in Chino Valley Unified School District. As the face of the group, Sonja is the one who takes the calls of parents pleading for help and is also the one who takes the criticisms of those who disagree with the group. Despite the adverse reactions she faced, her commitment to parents and their children has never wavered. There have been victories and defeats. Many of the challenges she has faced have become BLESSINGS. It has propelled her to find other avenues and created opportunities to engage with local politicians and community members, who may be in a position to be able to help our children.

Student Advocate

Sonja Shaw is now a leader of a movement putting parents’ voices back in education. After much prayer and with the support of her family, she decided to take on the next challenge, and run for Chino Valley School Board in November 2022. She believes that electing strong and courageous parent advocates, like herself, is the best way for local communities to take back public education from politicians, who have their own agendas. She wants to put it back into the hands of parents whose top priority is the best interests of our children. She wants to pave the way for our children to grow up in the school system feeling heard and supported, no matter what hurdles they are dealing with.

Sonja Shaw is the voice of integrity, honesty, and hope and if elected will be the light leading us in the right direction.

She is truly meant to serve as a school board member. Her goal is to restore what has been lost and to help parents become more involved and connected in all aspects of their child’s education.
